Space Marine in big trouble!

You already know there's going to be some Ash costumes as well.

She's baroque.

Beetlejuice and Lydia Deets

Helloooooo Betty Page.

This guy would love ShuIzmz's Boobs, Bush, and Blood philosophy.

Here's me with George A. Romero.  I wore my 'Romero is what God looks like' shirt.
You won't believe how he responded:  "It's funny but it's just wrong."

Here is El Santo with ZBFbooks.com reader Scat.

Here I am with Scott Reninger of 'Dawn of the Dead' '78 fame.

I got a shot with Ricou Browning, the dude that was The Creature From the Black Lagoon.  He was nice.

And here I am with the ingenue from the flick:  Julie Adams.

The 'Dawn...' panel was great.

El Santo gets a painting of his 'High School' senior pic.

Happy ladies with ghouls.

Yikes!

These folks walked in dressed as Japanese demons, saying, 'Fear is not in just clowns.  Fear is in everything."

Jason.

A great find at the event.  A Jason mask.

It's Jason from the video game.  I'm not going to lie, I was scared. It was so hard to beat that sonovabitch in the NES game.

This chick returned as Jigsaw and she took my advice from last year.  She brought the tricycle.

Killer chick.

KISS.

Kitty Korvette.  Yum.

Sexy Ash.

Here with Permuted Press author and my book formatter, Lyle Perez.

New Permuted Press mastermind,. Mike L. Wilson.

Nazi zombies.

This dude was in 'Green Hornet'.  He did some stunts that ended up on the cutting room floor.  He was also the heel in 'Insidious'.

Pennywise was there.

Permuted Press with an assload of some of the best post-apocalyptic horror, zombie, and more books available for sale.

Predator making friends.

Crazy-ass stuff.

El Santo with Peter Clines, author of the 'Ex-Patriots' series, ready to fight monsters.

For those folks who are fans of the El Santo movies, how crazy is it to meet a dude that looks just like his manager?

Satan made an appearance.

Great tattoos for superfans.

Terminators were there.  One of them spoke Spanish.

My Frightmare booty.

A little girl dressed as Vasquez.  It was great.

Frightmare was a ridiculously good time.  Here's to all those that attended.

Check out the pics from Frightmare 2013 HERE!

Thanks for the read, and thanks to Shuizmz.com for allowing me to report from Texas Frightmare 2014.

IBARRA is the author of the acclaimed 'Down the Road' zombie horror series from Permuted Press.  Born and raised in south Texas, Bowie calls his books 'Tex-Mexploitation' literature, as they reflect strong south Texas themes and settings, including 'Codename: La Lechusa' and 'Tejano Star and the Vengeance of Chaplain Skull'.  'Alamo Rising' is supernatural horror story in which a curse is unleashed on downtown San Antonio, and the unsuspecting ghost hunters who have to stop it.  It is available at Amazon.com in paperback and kindle.

BLOOD: ZBFbooks.com Permuted Press Book of the Week Recommendation 4/21/14

PERMUTED PRESS HEAVY-HITTER SCORES WITH '14'
by
Bowie V. Ibarra

ZBFbooks.com would like to let you know that if you haven't grabbed Peter Clines '14' yet, you're missing out.  The book is not only one of Permuted Press' top titles, but a great example of the craftsmanship of Peter Clines.  The dude sacrificed a lot of comforts to get to where he's at today, and you can find the fruits of those labors in his stories.

The guy is also a top notch, no-bullshit type of dude as well.  I've had the privilege to hang out with him a couple of times.  The guy knows what he's talking about in regards to professionalism and the writing industry and has no problem telling you what you're doing wrong.  But he's also cool enough to help you get it right, or offer sound advice in regards to the business.

Here's a synopsis of the story:

Padlocked doors. Strange light fixtures. Mutant cockroaches. There are some odd things about Nate's new apartment.

Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn't perfect, it's livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don't nag at him too much.

At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela's apartment. And Tim's. And Veek's.

Because every room in this old Los Angeles brownstone has a mystery or two. Mysteries that stretch back over a hundred years. Some of them are in plain sight. Some are behind locked doors. And all together these mysteries could mean the end of Nate and his friends.

Or the end of everything...

Noted authors in the industry have had this to say about his work:

"A riveting apocalyptic mystery in the style of LOST." --Craig DiLouie, author of THE INFECTION and THE KILLING FLOOR

"Takes a well thought concept and creatively expands on it to give the readers an excellent mix of The Twilight Zone, LOST & H.P. Lovecraft..." --Fantasy Book Critic

"A novel that should make Peter Clines a household name among not just horror fans, but fans of good stories, expertly told." --The Guilded Earlobe

"If you enjoy strong characterization and a whirlwind of genre-bending mysteries, you'll probably love the hell out of 14." --SFFaudio

"A wholly original story that weaves together mystery and the apocalypse like a finely tuned band." --Evan Roy, Bricks of the Dead

If you're not following the works of Peter Clines, start doing it now.  They're amazing.

You can get a copy of '14' HERE.

ZOMBIES/BLOOD - ZBF.com pics @ Texas Frightmare 2013

by Bowie Ibarra

ZombieBloodFights.com mastermind Bowie V. Ibarra was able to join Permuted Press as well as some of their stable of writers at the 8th Annual Texas Frightmare Convention in Dallas, Texas.  Ibarra takes a moment to document some of the fun that was had.

Permuted Superfan 'Brave Blue Mice' was in attendance, having driven from Minnesota through a blizzard to the event.

Dude was wearing a Huracan Ramirez shirt.  I had to get the shot.  And how appropriate I was wearing my Star Man shirt.

Me with my foster dad Jacob Kier, Permuted Press kingpin.  I'm not sure why I'm doing the 'lucha hands', but there you go.

Permuted author Peter Clines (of the hit Ex-Heroes series) drops the big elbow on Bowie.

Great privilege to sit with Peter.

Holy crap!  Mercy the Rotten Cotton poster girl was in attendance!  She's even more stunning in person.  Not pictured was when she kicked me right in the ass with her studded high-heel shoes.  People thought that was weird.  People thought it was weirder that I begged her to do it.  I thought it was funny.

Loyal reader Scat Caserole made an appearance.  His shirt was the best.  It was great to finally say hello in person.

Nazis zombies.  I hate Nazi zombies.

Darren Tompkins of the Houston Zombie Walk was also in attendance.

Meeting readers who have been following the series even before I was with Permuted Press is always the best.  Here I am with reader Carrie and her husband.

Reader Chuck Mutch showed up as well.

Predator.

Zombie Santa

Female Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz.

Jigsaw.  Man, it would have totally rocked if she had a tricycle.

D-List zombie horror hack Bowie Ibarra.

Tim Long of the "Among the Living" zombie horror series giving the snooty author look.

Marilyn Burns is the reason I could not finish watching 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' the first time I saw it on VHS.  I stopped it as grandpa was trying to bash her head in with a hammer at the dinner table and did not watch it again for several years.

Rounding out my evening, having just seen a sneak preview of the 'Maniac' remake with Elijah Wood and finally getting my pic snapped with the elusive and mysterious DL Snell, author of 'Pavlov's Dog' among others.

It was a great time with some great people and great stuff all around.  I look forward to doing it again soon!
