FIGHTS: Pro-Wrestling appreciation with Enrique Avalos

Enrique Avalos
The Fabulous Freebirds
ZombieBloodFights rings in the new year with another FIGHTS entry with one of the most devoted fans of pro-wrestling.  Enrique Avalos has and always will be one of pro-wrestling's most devoted advocates.  And I'm proud to call him a friend of mine.  A veritable historian of the sport, Enrique sat down with ZombieBloodFights blog to talk about the storied legacy of pro-wrestling.

ZombieBloodFights - Rick, it's great to have you in the ZombieBloodFights pit. I got to start with something we mutually appreciate: Pro-Wrestling. Enrique, what is your earliest pro-wrestling memory?

Enrique Avalos - My earliest memory was in SA back n the early 80's watching World Class Championship Wrestling with my folks.
ZBF - Who were some of your favorite wrestlers when you were a kid?

The von Erichs (Kevin, David, and Kerry)
EA - I always liked The Von Erichs, Dusty Rhodes, & The Rock n Roll Express.

ZBF - Who were some of the wrestlers you just couldn't stand when you were young? Bad guys that got you so upset that you just wanted the good guy to beat up in the ring?
EA - Hands down; Ric Flair & The Four Horsemen.

ZBF - When you think pro-wrestling rivalries, which ones come to mind?
A rivalry for the ages: Dusty Rhodes vs. Ric Flair
The Four Horsement
EA - A lot of theories on this 1. Some would say Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels, others would say The Four Horsemen vs. "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. I say The Von Erichs vs. The Fabulous Freebirds.

ZBF - If you could put together a War Games match in the current era, who would you like to see fight it out in the cage?
EA - Evan Bourn, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, C M Punk, Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio, Wade Barrett, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger.

ZBF - What are your thoughts on the current wrestlers in WWE and how do they compare to the past?
Rock and Roll Express
EA - The WWE Superstars of 2day r far more athletic than those of the 80's. 4 some reason I could not imagine Andre The Giant chasing King Kong Bundy 2 the top rope like I saw Big Show do 2 Mark Henry back @ Vengeance.

ZBF - What is a great fantasy matchup you'd like to see with a person from the modern era to someone from the past?

Mil Mascaras
EA - Rey Mysterio vs. Mil Mascaras

The best ever: Shawn Michaels
ZBF - In your opinion, who are some of the best wrestlers to ever step in the squared circle?

EA - I've seen 3 wrestlers that really stand out. Each of these individuals would not only adapt against their opponents, but they adapted as they grew older. These 3 earned their way n2 the WWE Hall of Fame. They r, "The Hitman" Bret Hart, 16 time World Champion "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, & n my own opinion the 1 wrestler who best adapted 2 anything that was put n his way, "The Showstopper", "The Main Event", "The Icon", "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels.

Thanx Bowie, this brought back a lot of good memories without having 2 watch the dvd's. If I could add 1 more thing, the 1 stipulation I wish the WWE or TNA should bring back s the scaffold match. The 2 matches that involved The Road Warriors, The Midnight Express, & The Rock n Roll Express were phenomenal matches.
The legendary scaffold match
